Makalu Base Camp and Barun Valley Trekking are regarded as one of the less exposed wilderness trekking trails in Nepal. Firstly, this classical trekking takes us to the 5th world's highest mountain, Mt. Makalu which is closer to the top of the world, Mt. Everest. Secondly, this trekking also offers an opportunity to step into a mesmerizing Barun Valley which is popular for exhilarating wilderness and solitude. Makalu Base Camp and Barun Valley trekking trail protected by Makalu Barun National Park. The exotic species of flora and fauna are another considerable attraction of this trekking. This trail, in fact, is a less crowded and less exposed area trekking in Nepal. Makalu Base Camp – Barun Valley Trekking commences form Tumlingtar after we have a short and scenic flight from Kathmandu. The trail then follows along the legendary Barun River to Makalu Base Camp. Before getting to Makalu Base Camp, we will experience some high passes and some serene lakes in the lap of the Himalayas. These high passes will be a thrilling experience for adventure enthusiasts.

Makalu Base Camp Trek is a popular vantage point that offers us breathtaking views of the Himalayas including Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Chamlang, Mt. Baruntse, and other trekking peaks. This trekking is also popular for peak trekking like Mera Peak.

Makalu Barun National Park owns Barun Valley, This valley and Makalu Barun region are an abode to many species of vegetation and wildlife including rhododendrons, orchids, Snow Leopard, Red Panda, Musk Deer, Wild Boar, Wild Yak, Himalayan Thar, and many more. Moreover, this area is home to more than 420 varieties of bird species. Most significantly, we happen to see the spiny babbler, the bird only found in Nepal. So, even bird watchers find this trekking trail rewarding.

Day 1 : Arrive in Kathmandu received by Team Himalaya staff.

On arrival meet our TH staff for a courtesy transfer to respective hotels in the heart of Kathmandu at the Thamel area, an interesting place for shopping and having meals in one of the many world-class restaurants, pubs, and bakeries. Our guide will inform you of details regarding Makalu Base Camp & Barun Valley Trek.

Day 2 : Fly to Tumlingtar 950 m – 45 minutes and camp.

Starting this unique adventure with a sweeping scenic flight to Tumlingtar overlooking a range of snow-capped peaks from Langtang all the way to Mt. Everest, Makalu & Mt. Kanchenjunga, on reaching Tumlingtar airport Meet our other trekking crews and guide you to the overnight stop in camps or lodge at Tumlingtar, a large town-village located on a shelf above Arun River with views of Mt. Makalu in the distance, around this area is quite tropical and warm.

Day 3 : Drive to Num 1, 500m – 04 hours.

After a nice morning view of Mt. Makalu and other range of mountains, our day starts with an interesting drive to Num village in the Himalayan mid-hills, the drive passes through many farmlands and villages and into a large town at Khadbari, the headquarter and the main town of Sankha Saba district and Makalu area, from here drive continues leading uphill on the winding dirt jeep track reaching at a farm village of Chinchilla, perched high above the surrounding countryside after a nice break here drive continues on the winding ups and down track till Num village is reached for the overnight stop. Num a growing village turning slowly into town as the motorable road has come this far since last four years. From here onwards the air will be much cooler.

Day 4 : Trek to Sedua 1,493 m – 05 hours.

The morning starts with the first-day walk of this wonderful adventure to Sedua village, setting off on the steep downhill slopes and terraced farmlands towards the raging Arun River, a descent of about 800 meters below. This narrow valley is densely forested and the trail is quite slippery in some places, on reaching the bottom crossing the suspension bridge over the Arun River, then walk leads to climbing uphill leaving behind the rain forest, then walking around farmlands and scattered houses and hamlets of Runruma.
After a break here or a possible lunch stop, our journey continues with a steep climb up all the way to Sedua, a farm village with a small health post and a primary school.

Day 5 : Trek to Tashi- gaon 2,200 m – 04 hours.

Today a short day walk of about four hours to Tashi-Gaon, the last village and human settlement for a week, leaving the Sedua village on the gradual winding trail passing several farm areas and hamlets and into a cool forest reaching Tashi gaon for lunch and overnight top, after lunch and camp being set afternoon free at leisure for a short walk, this village is inhabited mostly by Sherpa tribe, unlike Sherpa of Everest, they are bit different in their way of living, being settled in this low warm areas they are farmers tending agriculture fields and terraces and cattle raising.

Day 6 : Trek to Kohma Danda 3,500 m – 05 hours.

After a nice day in Tashi Gaon and leaving this last village on route to the higher Makalu region, a morning walk leads through enchanting dense rhododendrons, pines, and oaks forest, the air is cooler and much refreshing on this nice walk passing several summer pasture and grazing fields and meadows, then a steep climb into alpine forest then leaving the tree line reaching at Kohama ridge, for overnight camp. From here spectacular views of landscapes and of snow-capped peaks including the third highest Mt. Kanchenjunga range of mountains and looking north at the world’s fifth highest Mt. Makaslu.

Day 7 : Trek to Mumbuk 3,400 m – 06 hours.

The morning after the great panorama of mountains, the journey continues with a few ups and downs passing the glacial Thulo Pokhari (big pond) and Sano Pokhari (small pond). Around this area in snow conditions, it’s quite an arduous job to trace the path, after the Sano Pokhari crossing Tutu-la pass at 4,075 meters and from here onwards descending for few hours towards our overnight camp at Mumbuk and into dense vegetation and heavily wooded tree lines, on reaching at Mumbuk with rock small caves, a shelter for the porters camp is set in this dense beautiful forest with views of Khumbakarna range of mountains.

Day 8 : Trek to Nehe Kharka 3,750 m – 06 hours.

After the Mumbuk morning walk leads downhill all the way to exotic and beautiful Barun Valley, in this least trekking region, this unique area with awesome landscapes is protected by Makalu-Barun National Park with some 3,000 species of flowering plants, 440 bird species, and 75 species of mammals, including the endangers clouded leopard, red panda, and musk deer. Barun Valley is a remarkable bio-diversity and it is considered to be of global significance offering a living laboratory for international botanical and zoological scientific research, The climate gets a mixture of warm and cool air, on reaching the vast Barun Valley the trek is nice, and pleasant with gradual climb following Barun River upstream towards Nehe-Kharka for overnight camp, this place is a summer pasture for the local villagers of Tashi and Navagoan.

Day 9 : Trek to Sherson 4,600 m – 06 hours.

From this nice camp at Barun Valley enclosed by high sheer rocky cliffs and forests, a morning walk leads to crossing the Barun River with a small wooden bridge support, then walking on the pleasant gradual trial up towards a small place of Ramara, another Sheppard’s area with a large prayer wall, from here onwards the vegetation and tree lines declines for sparse short alpine bushes of juniper, rhododendrons prickly barberries and cotoneaster persists from here onwards to Sherson, after a nice day walk with amazing scenery of surrounding landscapespped mountains reaching at our destination and the highlight of this trip at Sherson the last camp in the end of Barun valley before heading back. The campsite here offers tremendous views of Mt. Makalu, Baruntse peaks at 7,220 meters of the hidden peaks and less known Peak 04.
Around this area there are stone enclosures of the cattle herders’ shelter, as this high area is the grazing ground for Yaks and other domestic cattle, afternoon just relax and enjoy the superb views.

Day 10 : At Sherson rest day for a day hikes.

A rest day here after a weeklong trekking, an optional short hike around Sherson and to Makalu Base Camp the highest point of this awesome trip at 5,060 meters, a few hours of walk to reach the Makalu Base camp enclosed with the high peak of Makalu and Baruntse and the Barun Pokhari a small glacial pond nearby, then our walk leads to a high climb up the hilltop for views of majestic Mt. Makalu with rare East Face of Mt. Everest known as Khangsung Face with the world’s 04th highest Mt. Lhotse which is close to Mt. Everest.
After a nice morning hike return back to camp for lunch and a relaxing afternoon at Sherson the last highest camp of this awesome journey.

Day 11 : Trek to Yangre Kharka 3,645 m – 06 hours.

After a great memorable stay with an awesome experience in this highest region return trek back towards the very end of Barun Valley at Yak Kharka for the overnight stop after a good nice walk on the gradual downhill to this last camp at Barun Valley area.

Day 12 : Trek to Mumbuk – 05 hours.

The morning walk leads with a climb back to tree lines and around dense vegetation after leaving Barun Valley on this great morning walk uphill, the walk with a gradual climb in the first section for an hour then with a steep uphill haul through thick tree lines reaching back at Mumbuk for overnight camp.

Day 13 : Trek to Kohma Ridge – 05 hours.

From Mumbuk morning walk leads up to Shipton- -la at around 4,040 meters, and crosses Tutu-la pass at 4,075 meters with a gentle up then on the pleasant gradual path passing Thulo and Sano Pokhari, then back to Kohma danda (ridge) for overnight camp.

Day 14 : Trek to Nawa Gaon (2,500m) via Tashi Gaon – 06 hours.

Today, our walk leads back to human settlements and villages after being away for a week, with the glorious morning panorama of high mountains and rolling hills, the walk descends through dense forest to Tashi Gaon and, from here after break continues to to walk on the upper path towards Nawa-Gaon through the cool shade of the forest, then coming towards farmlands and at Nawa-Gaon village, a large scattered Sherpa village, which is bigger than Tashigaon, located just above Sedua village.

Day 15 : Trek to Num via Sedua – 06 hours.

After a nice morning with the sound of villagers and domesticated animals, the walk leads on the downhill path through farm terraces and to Sedua village, from here continue descending on the steep trail to the bridge over the raging Arun River, then from here the last uphill climb of this trip and as well the last walk today, after more than an hour climb reaching at Num village for the last overnight camp in this mid hill villages.

Day 16 : Drive to Tumlingtar – 04 hours.

With the wonderful morning and views of surrounding landscapes and distant snow-capped mountains, our journey continues with a drive from Num to Tumlingtar, the drive leads uphill for a while with scenic panorama over these super landscapes and villages, then after Chinchilla village on the downhill road all the way to Tumlingtar passing the town of Khandbari, on reaching at Tumlingtar back to best available lodge for overnight stay.

Day 17 :  Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

This morning depending upon the flight time, sometimes the flight can be delayed due to bad weather conditions, after the boarding airport terminal for security check, this scenic flight from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu which takes less than an hour, with super panorama views during the flight of parallel chain of mountains, on reaching Kathmandu domestic terminal, transfer you back to respective hotels with afternoon free at leisure.

Day 18 : In Kathmandu full day sightseeing tour

The morning after breakfast at a given time our city and cultural guide will guide you in and around Kathmandu at places of interest and importance, as Kathmandu Valley is full of World Heritage Sites the holy Pashupatinath temple, Bouddhanath (Little Tibet), Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) & monasteries, ancient Kings Palaces and courtyard in Kathmandu; after an interesting sightseeing back to the hotel

Day 19 : International departure homeward bound.

Last day in Nepal with a wonderful memorable time in Himalaya Makalu Base Camp & Barun Valley Trek with Team Himalaya and transfer to the airport for the flight back home or to respective destination.

Team Himalaya's list of outdoor equipment requirements is in the following list order depending upon the type of holidays chosen leisure tours, moderate, adventurous to challenging trekking, and climbs.

Gear required depends upon the season of travel as well as the grade of travel and trekking as Nepal is for all seasons except the wet months of July to mid-September when few travelers visit Nepal.

For Simple Sightseeing Tours in Kathmandu and beyond:

  • Personal Toiletries, a small day pack or bag to carry your personal belongings that is water bottles, cameras, wallets, maps, journey/notebooks, cell phones, light jackets, or fleece and insect repellent cream as per the season.
  • Running /sports shoes or comfortable shoes for short walks, for elderly people walking poles, personal medication, binoculars as an option, T-shirts, long sleeve shirts, trousers (while entering temples and monasteries) sunscreens.

For Moderate Hikes and Treks:

The following items can be bought or hired in Kathmandu, the above list is standard items required in all climbs, however on booking, we will inform you with more details on equipment required depending upon the type of various peaks of your choice, ropes, jumar, ice screw are also needed in most of the climb.

After selecting the trip of your choice from our varied programs and itineraries, the first step in the booking procedure you are requested to fill out our booking form and send it after completion with 20 % as a non-refundable deposit for the entire Nepal Trip.

Along with the completed form, you are required to e-mail your passport copy and flight Ticket with all details to us in the Kathmandu office at Team Himalaya (info@teamhimalaya.com).

Upon receiving your passport copy and details with the completed booking form Plus your non-refundable deposit, we will proceed and send you a final affirmation receipt with acknowledgment.

All deposits are required for selected and chosen trips on per per-person basis, we will inform you by e-mail regarding the direct deposit procedure and details.

As per the booking and Trip money transfer, service charges of respective banks might apply and they should be paid at the time of deposit.

We will e-mail you the details on making payments through your credit card once you have filled up the Booking form.

We accept Visa or MasterCard only with a 4% surcharge added as a processing fee on credit cards and wire Transfers as a service charged by the Banks.

The Condition for clearing the remaining balance as per the trip booked is as follows:

The remaining due balance for all Nepal Trips should be paid and cleared upon arrival.

The remaining balance for other Himalayan countries like Bhutan, and Tibet, and all multi-country tours needs to be cleared within 35 days prior to your trip departure dates.

Team Himalaya Treks & Expeditions (P) Ltd reserves the right to cancel your trip if the full amount is not paid on time.

In certain circumstances, we will accept your last-hour booking a minimum of a week prior to the tour departure date for all the trips, in this case, full payment is required.

03: Refund & Cancellation:

No refund will be made by the company for the 20% deposit amount in case of cancellation of your trip for any whatsoever or other reasons.

After having paid the full amount of any selected trip, you are entitled to incur a refund in case you want to cancel your trip by informing us earliest as possible to make the charge reasonable as per the company rules and regulations.

Still, the cancellation charge is invoiced to you. Written notification of your cancellation should be made to cancel any trip. Nevertheless, you have imposed a cancellation charge as advised below:-

60 days or more deposit retained
45 – 50 days before departure 50%
30 – 40 days before departure 75%
20 days before departure 100%

04: Extra Supplement Charge:

Team Himalaya Treks & Expeditions (P) Ltd tour/trek packages, rooms, or tents are provided on twin sharing basis. Thus, a single room supplement charge will be imposed as extra for a client who does not have another tour participant to share a room/tent with. It also applies to clients who need a single supplement in tents/rooms in a hotel or lodge.

05: Early return from any Tours or Treks:

No refund will be entertained to clients on early return from our trips due to personal domestic/medical or personal problems from any other trips regardless of whatever portions remain unused in the itinerary.

06: Amendment in Trip Cost:

Team Himalaya Treks & Expeditions (P) Ltd. reserves the right to revise or change the trip costing rate posted on our website, under any circumstances, or on the pressure of various external factors beyond our control, for instance, changes in exchange rate, government action, etc. inflation, however assuring that we will put our effort as much possible to keep the present cost rate as it is.

07: Unforeseen Circumstances:

If the company have to cancel the respective trip due to unforeseen circumstances like natural disasters, political conflict, unfavorable climate, broken trail, and roads, etc., we will refer you for an alternative trip of similar types and standard.

Even if this doesn’t suit and fit your likes and interests, all trip prices paid by you to our company will be refunded with some administration and trip arrangement charge of 15 to 20 % depending upon the trip chosen.

Please note, any other expenses incurred by you as a result of this booking are entirely your responsibility.

08:  Travel / Medical Insurance:

We strongly suggest and recommend all booking Clients acquire Travel and Medical Insurance as a compulsion in all our tours and trekking and climbing trips. It should include adequate protection for tour/trekking/climbing/rafting or any other adventure sports with duration to cover personal injury, death, medical expenses, and repatriation or emergency evacuation expenses by any means of transportation such as helicopter rescue, air ambulance and adequate cover for baggage.

09: Health & Fitness:

All our Treks and Tours require sound health and a level of fitness before signing the booking with us, the client should always check with your local Doctor or Physician regarding your health and fitness before the trip departs to Himalayan destinations.

It’s solely the client’s responsibility to inform Team Himalaya Treks & Expeditions of any pre-existing medical condition or disability that might reasonably be expected to increase the risk of your required medical attention, which may affect your capability to travel on the trips booked with us.

Children and Elderly people:

An authorized guardian by the parents must accompany all travelers under the age of sixteen.

A person of more than 70 years of age, although in good health still needs a partner, family member, or friends to accompany him/her.

10: Nepal / Tibet Visas & Passport Conditions:

It is important that all clients should have a valid passport with at least six months of validity from the return date of travel.

Nepal visas can be obtained from the Nepal Consulate or Embassy in your country or upon arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport. The costs of Nepalese visas are the sole responsibility of clients. All clients must have a valid passport with at least 6 months of validity from the return date. As you are unable to obtain visas to Tibet you need to send your passport details to Team Himalaya Treks & Expeditions for visa applications to travel in Tibet, we require this information at least three weeks prior to departure.

11: Risk and Liabilities:

Team Himalaya's main concern is your safety and satisfaction including our staff welfare, therefore we carry out all our assignments sincerely & honestly to ensure your holiday a Hassel hassle-free without any problems.

Nevertheless, unless stated otherwise, the trip may be changed under uncertain and inherent circumstances such as landslides, roadblocks, floods, heavy snow, political unrest, cancellation of flight, delayed arrival, sickness or accidents, etc. Any extra cost incurred there is your personal responsibility and should be borne on the spot.

Flight Delay/Cancellation:

Possibility of domestic flight delay or postponement due to bad weather in Himalayan regions which happens sometimes, in particular around Everest region Lukla, Phaplu, Annapurna / Mustang / Manang region Humde, Jomsom and on the Far West Dolpa, Simikot and Jumla region and on Far East sector Tumlingtar, and Taplejung area.

Trekking in remote areas or in as described above, especially during the off-season, you are highly advised to reserve extra days to prepare for some delays and avoid frustrating consequences.

In case of flight cancellation pre-tour/post-tour, you need to bear accommodation and food costs yourself.

Itinerary Detail

Day 1 : Arrive in Kathmandu received by Team Himalaya staff.

On arrival meet our TH staff for a courtesy transfer to respective hotels in the heart of Kathmandu at the Thamel area, an interesting place for shopping and having meals in one of the many world-class restaurants, pubs, and bakeries. Our guide will inform you of details regarding Makalu Base Camp & Barun Valley Trek.

Day 2 : Fly to Tumlingtar 950 m – 45 minutes and camp.

Starting this unique adventure with a sweeping scenic flight to Tumlingtar overlooking a range of snow-capped peaks from Langtang all the way to Mt. Everest, Makalu & Mt. Kanchenjunga, on reaching Tumlingtar airport Meet our other trekking crews and guide you to the overnight stop in camps or lodge at Tumlingtar, a large town-village located on a shelf above Arun River with views of Mt. Makalu in the distance, around this area is quite tropical and warm.

Day 3 : Drive to Num 1, 500m – 04 hours.

After a nice morning view of Mt. Makalu and other range of mountains, our day starts with an interesting drive to Num village in the Himalayan mid-hills, the drive passes through many farmlands and villages and into a large town at Khadbari, the headquarter and the main town of Sankha Saba district and Makalu area, from here drive continues leading uphill on the winding dirt jeep track reaching at a farm village of Chinchilla, perched high above the surrounding countryside after a nice break here drive continues on the winding ups and down track till Num village is reached for the overnight stop. Num a growing village turning slowly into town as the motorable road has come this far since last four years. From here onwards the air will be much cooler.

Day 4 : Trek to Sedua 1,493 m – 05 hours.

The morning starts with the first-day walk of this wonderful adventure to Sedua village, setting off on the steep downhill slopes and terraced farmlands towards the raging Arun River, a descent of about 800 meters below. This narrow valley is densely forested and the trail is quite slippery in some places, on reaching the bottom crossing the suspension bridge over the Arun River, then walk leads to climbing uphill leaving behind the rain forest, then walking around farmlands and scattered houses and hamlets of Runruma.
After a break here or a possible lunch stop, our journey continues with a steep climb up all the way to Sedua, a farm village with a small health post and a primary school.

Day 5 : Trek to Tashi- gaon 2,200 m – 04 hours.

Today a short day walk of about four hours to Tashi-Gaon, the last village and human settlement for a week, leaving the Sedua village on the gradual winding trail passing several farm areas and hamlets and into a cool forest reaching Tashi gaon for lunch and overnight top, after lunch and camp being set afternoon free at leisure for a short walk, this village is inhabited mostly by Sherpa tribe, unlike Sherpa of Everest, they are bit different in their way of living, being settled in this low warm areas they are farmers tending agriculture fields and terraces and cattle raising.

Day 6 : Trek to Kohma Danda 3,500 m – 05 hours.

After a nice day in Tashi Gaon and leaving this last village on route to the higher Makalu region, a morning walk leads through enchanting dense rhododendrons, pines, and oaks forest, the air is cooler and much refreshing on this nice walk passing several summer pasture and grazing fields and meadows, then a steep climb into alpine forest then leaving the tree line reaching at Kohama ridge, for overnight camp. From here spectacular views of landscapes and of snow-capped peaks including the third highest Mt. Kanchenjunga range of mountains and looking north at the world’s fifth highest Mt. Makaslu.

Day 7 : Trek to Mumbuk 3,400 m – 06 hours.

The morning after the great panorama of mountains, the journey continues with a few ups and downs passing the glacial Thulo Pokhari (big pond) and Sano Pokhari (small pond). Around this area in snow conditions, it’s quite an arduous job to trace the path, after the Sano Pokhari crossing Tutu-la pass at 4,075 meters and from here onwards descending for few hours towards our overnight camp at Mumbuk and into dense vegetation and heavily wooded tree lines, on reaching at Mumbuk with rock small caves, a shelter for the porters camp is set in this dense beautiful forest with views of Khumbakarna range of mountains.

Day 8 : Trek to Nehe Kharka 3,750 m – 06 hours.

After the Mumbuk morning walk leads downhill all the way to exotic and beautiful Barun Valley, in this least trekking region, this unique area with awesome landscapes is protected by Makalu-Barun National Park with some 3,000 species of flowering plants, 440 bird species, and 75 species of mammals, including the endangers clouded leopard, red panda, and musk deer. Barun Valley is a remarkable bio-diversity and it is considered to be of global significance offering a living laboratory for international botanical and zoological scientific research, The climate gets a mixture of warm and cool air, on reaching the vast Barun Valley the trek is nice, and pleasant with gradual climb following Barun River upstream towards Nehe-Kharka for overnight camp, this place is a summer pasture for the local villagers of Tashi and Navagoan.

Day 9 : Trek to Sherson 4,600 m – 06 hours.

From this nice camp at Barun Valley enclosed by high sheer rocky cliffs and forests, a morning walk leads to crossing the Barun River with a small wooden bridge support, then walking on the pleasant gradual trial up towards a small place of Ramara, another Sheppard’s area with a large prayer wall, from here onwards the vegetation and tree lines declines for sparse short alpine bushes of juniper, rhododendrons prickly barberries and cotoneaster persists from here onwards to Sherson, after a nice day walk with amazing scenery of surrounding landscapespped mountains reaching at our destination and the highlight of this trip at Sherson the last camp in the end of Barun valley before heading back. The campsite here offers tremendous views of Mt. Makalu, Baruntse peaks at 7,220 meters of the hidden peaks and less known Peak 04.
Around this area there are stone enclosures of the cattle herders’ shelter, as this high area is the grazing ground for Yaks and other domestic cattle, afternoon just relax and enjoy the superb views.

Day 10 : At Sherson rest day for a day hikes.

A rest day here after a weeklong trekking, an optional short hike around Sherson and to Makalu Base Camp the highest point of this awesome trip at 5,060 meters, a few hours of walk to reach the Makalu Base camp enclosed with the high peak of Makalu and Baruntse and the Barun Pokhari a small glacial pond nearby, then our walk leads to a high climb up the hilltop for views of majestic Mt. Makalu with rare East Face of Mt. Everest known as Khangsung Face with the world’s 04th highest Mt. Lhotse which is close to Mt. Everest.
After a nice morning hike return back to camp for lunch and a relaxing afternoon at Sherson the last highest camp of this awesome journey.

Day 11 : Trek to Yangre Kharka 3,645 m – 06 hours.

After a great memorable stay with an awesome experience in this highest region return trek back towards the very end of Barun Valley at Yak Kharka for the overnight stop after a good nice walk on the gradual downhill to this last camp at Barun Valley area.

Day 12 : Trek to Mumbuk – 05 hours.

The morning walk leads with a climb back to tree lines and around dense vegetation after leaving Barun Valley on this great morning walk uphill, the walk with a gradual climb in the first section for an hour then with a steep uphill haul through thick tree lines reaching back at Mumbuk for overnight camp.

Day 13 : Trek to Kohma Ridge – 05 hours.

From Mumbuk morning walk leads up to Shipton- -la at around 4,040 meters, and crosses Tutu-la pass at 4,075 meters with a gentle up then on the pleasant gradual path passing Thulo and Sano Pokhari, then back to Kohma danda (ridge) for overnight camp.

Day 14 : Trek to Nawa Gaon (2,500m) via Tashi Gaon – 06 hours.

Today, our walk leads back to human settlements and villages after being away for a week, with the glorious morning panorama of high mountains and rolling hills, the walk descends through dense forest to Tashi Gaon and, from here after break continues to to walk on the upper path towards Nawa-Gaon through the cool shade of the forest, then coming towards farmlands and at Nawa-Gaon village, a large scattered Sherpa village, which is bigger than Tashigaon, located just above Sedua village.

Day 15 : Trek to Num via Sedua – 06 hours.

After a nice morning with the sound of villagers and domesticated animals, the walk leads on the downhill path through farm terraces and to Sedua village, from here continue descending on the steep trail to the bridge over the raging Arun River, then from here the last uphill climb of this trip and as well the last walk today, after more than an hour climb reaching at Num village for the last overnight camp in this mid hill villages.

Day 16 : Drive to Tumlingtar – 04 hours.

With the wonderful morning and views of surrounding landscapes and distant snow-capped mountains, our journey continues with a drive from Num to Tumlingtar, the drive leads uphill for a while with scenic panorama over these super landscapes and villages, then after Chinchilla village on the downhill road all the way to Tumlingtar passing the town of Khandbari, on reaching at Tumlingtar back to best available lodge for overnight stay.

Day 17 :  Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

This morning depending upon the flight time, sometimes the flight can be delayed due to bad weather conditions, after the boarding airport terminal for security check, this scenic flight from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu which takes less than an hour, with super panorama views during the flight of parallel chain of mountains, on reaching Kathmandu domestic terminal, transfer you back to respective hotels with afternoon free at leisure.

Day 18 : In Kathmandu full day sightseeing tour

The morning after breakfast at a given time our city and cultural guide will guide you in and around Kathmandu at places of interest and importance, as Kathmandu Valley is full of World Heritage Sites the holy Pashupatinath temple, Bouddhanath (Little Tibet), Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) & monasteries, ancient Kings Palaces and courtyard in Kathmandu; after an interesting sightseeing back to the hotel

Day 19 : International departure homeward bound.

Last day in Nepal with a wonderful memorable time in Himalaya Makalu Base Camp & Barun Valley Trek with Team Himalaya and transfer to the airport for the flight back home or to respective destination.

As per the booking and Trip money transfer, service charges of respective banks might apply and they should be paid at the time of deposit.

After having paid the full amount of any selected trip, you are entitled to incur a refund in case you want to cancel your trip by informing us earliest as possible to make the charge reasonable as per the company rules and regulations.

Still, the cancellation charge is invoiced to you. Written notification of your cancellation should be made to cancel any trip. Nevertheless, you have imposed a cancellation charge as advised below:-

60 days or more deposit retained
45 – 50 days before departure 50%
30 – 40 days before departure 75%
20 days before departure 100%

04: Extra Supplement Charge:

Team Himalaya Treks & Expeditions (P) Ltd tour/trek packages, rooms, or tents are provided on twin sharing basis. Thus, a single room supplement charge will be imposed as extra for a client who does not have another tour participant to share a room/tent with. It also applies to clients who need a single supplement in tents/rooms in a hotel or lodge.

05: Early return from any Tours or Treks:

No refund will be entertained to clients on early return from our trips due to personal domestic/medical or personal problems from any other trips regardless of whatever portions remain unused in the itinerary.

06: Amendment in Trip Cost:

Team Himalaya Treks & Expeditions (P) Ltd. reserves the right to revise or change the trip costing rate posted on our website, under any circumstances, or on the pressure of various external factors beyond our control, for instance, changes in exchange rate, government action, etc. inflation, however assuring that we will put our effort as much possible to keep the present cost rate as it is.

07: Unforeseen Circumstances:

If the company have to cancel the respective trip due to unforeseen circumstances like natural disasters, political conflict, unfavorable climate, broken trail, and roads, etc., we will refer you for an alternative trip of similar types and standard.

Even if this doesn’t suit and fit your likes and interests, all trip prices paid by you to our company will be refunded with some administration and trip arrangement charge of 15 to 20 % depending upon the trip chosen.

Please note, any other expenses incurred by you as a result of this booking are entirely your responsibility.

08:  Travel / Medical Insurance:

We strongly suggest and recommend all booking Clients acquire Travel and Medical Insurance as a compulsion in all our tours and trekking and climbing trips. It should include adequate protection for tour/trekking/climbing/rafting or any other adventure sports with duration to cover personal injury, death, medical expenses, and repatriation or emergency evacuation expenses by any means of transportation such as helicopter rescue, air ambulance and adequate cover for baggage.

09: Health & Fitness:

All our Treks and Tours require sound health and a level of fitness before signing the booking with us, the client should always check with your local Doctor or Physician regarding your health and fitness before the trip departs to Himalayan destinations.

It’s solely the client’s responsibility to inform Team Himalaya Treks & Expeditions of any pre-existing medical condition or disability that might reasonably be expected to increase the risk of your required medical attention, which may affect your capability to travel on the trips booked with us.

Children and Elderly people:

An authorized guardian by the parents must accompany all travelers under the age of sixteen.

A person of more than 70 years of age, although in good health still needs a partner, family member, or friends to accompany him/her.

10: Nepal / Tibet Visas & Passport Conditions:

It is important that all clients should have a valid passport with at least six months of validity from the return date of travel.

Nepal visas can be obtained from the Nepal Consulate or Embassy in your country or upon arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport. The costs of Nepalese visas are the sole responsibility of clients. All clients must have a valid passport with at least 6 months of validity from the return date. As you are unable to obtain visas to Tibet you need to send your passport details to Team Himalaya Treks & Expeditions for visa applications to travel in Tibet, we require this information at least three weeks prior to departure.

11: Risk and Liabilities:

Team Himalaya's main concern is your safety and satisfaction including our staff welfare, therefore we carry out all our assignments sincerely & honestly to ensure your holiday a Hassel hassle-free without any problems.

Nevertheless, unless stated otherwise, the trip may be changed under uncertain and inherent circumstances such as landslides, roadblocks, floods, heavy snow, political unrest, cancellation of flight, delayed arrival, sickness or accidents, etc. Any extra cost incurred there is your personal responsibility and should be borne on the spot.

Flight Delay/Cancellation:

Possibility of domestic flight delay or postponement due to bad weather in Himalayan regions which happens sometimes, in particular around Everest region Lukla, Phaplu, Annapurna / Mustang / Manang region Humde, Jomsom and on the Far West Dolpa, Simikot and Jumla region and on Far East sector Tumlingtar, and Taplejung area.

Trekking in remote areas or in as described above, especially during the off-season, you are highly advised to reserve extra days to prepare for some delays and avoid frustrating consequences.

In case of flight cancellation pre-tour/post-tour, you need to bear accommodation and food costs yourself.

12: Our Responsible Adventure Policy:

Our entire tour/trekking guide representing Team Himalaya Treks & Expeditions deserves all authority during tours and trekking/rafting or on climbs.

Team Himalaya Treks & Expeditions will ensure to make every effort comfortable and satisfactory in all our trips, but one must understand that Himalayan or Third World and Developing Countries like Nepal cannot afford much of Western and highly timed facilities sometimes depending upon the area of travel, however, we will try our best to make your travel enjoyable with memorable time while with us.

Weather is another factor that directly impacts some trips, hence, patience in mind, enthusiasm, and proper preparation before heading is a must.

Your personal belongings:

On any account, we’re not responsible for any loss or damage of your baggage/luggage or property even when it is shouldered by our porters, ponies, or vehicles. Our trip escorts and guides will provide necessary safety precautions so that this does not arise while with us.

Papers & Documents:

All necessary papers and documents should be presented in sequence for example to issue visas, necessary permits, etc. We’re not accountable in case of any trip formality not being completed in time before the trip departs in the absence of essential papers and documents.
