The 12-day-long Annapurna Base camp trek and Annapurna sanctuary trekking route pass through several varied climatic and geographical conditions, ranging from sub-tropical to alpine and low-valleys to snowy terrains. The several changes in vegetation give the trekkers a wonderful opportunity to witness exotic and endangered species of flora and fauna. The trek begins with a drive or flight to the Lake City, Pokhara. On the third day of your arrival, we will finally commence the trek from Pokhara to Nayapul. Here onwards, we will trek through several picturesque Gurung villages like Ghandruk, Chomrung, and Bamboo. On the sixth day, we will finally reach the Annapurna Base Camp and Annapurna sanctuary at a staggering elevation of 4,095m via Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,720m). From the Annapurna base camp and Annapurna sanctuary, we will be able to witness the colossal peaks like Mt. Annapurna 1, Mt. Annapurna 3, Annapurna South, Mt. Himchuli, Mt. Gandharvachuli and Mt. Gangapurna mountains from a very close range. While trekking down, we will descend down from a different route through villages of JhinuDanda, Potana, and Kande, which qualifies the trek as a mini-circuit trek and accentuates the trek experience.
In addition to the naturally endowed beauty, the region is also notable for its rich civilization and culture. The original inhabitants of the Annapurna region, the Gurungs, have a unique culture and elaborate traditions, which they have successfully preserved and prospered over the years. During the stay at the teahouses operated by these people, we will be able to firsthand experience their hospitality and be a part of the traditional and village lifestyle.
The Short Annapurna Base Camp trek and Annapurna sanctuary trekking is an incredible, epic, and rewarding trek that offers unwatchable mountain views, enchanting forested trails, and picturesque villages with the rich history. It is of moderate difficulty level and achievable for anyone in good health. Although it is an easy-moderate trek, it is still preferable to have some pre-physical training. However, our trekking itinerary has been specially designed to make the trip more pleasant, not straining, and convenient.
Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu received by Team Himalaya staff.
On arrival meet our TH staff for courtesy transfer to respective hotels in the heart of Kathmandu at Thamel area, an interesting place for shopping and having meals in one of the many world class restaurants, pubs and bakery. Our guide will inform on details regarding the treks to short annapuran trek.
Day 02: Drive or fly to Pokhara 950m (30 mins flight and 6 hrs drive)
With an option of driving or taking a flight, whatever your choice and interest a scenic drive takes about 6 hours to Pokhara, which is quite interesting on the Nepal’s main highway following the Trisuli river for a while and then heading west with views of Ganesh, Langtang Himal as it gets closer to Pokhara with Annapurna and Manaslu range of peaks. In Pokhara the haven for tourist a scenic place with mountains and lakes, here in Pokhara transfer to hotel by the lake Phewa (Fewa) for overnight.
Day 03: Drive to Nayapul 1,100m and trek to Gandruk 1, 850m – 5hrs.
A two hours drive away from Pokhara leading west, with fabulous views of Annapurna Himalaya ranging from A I, A II, A III and A IV with stunning Mt.Machhapuchare “Fish Tail” on reaching at Nayapul, begin the trek following Modi river for short distance to a nice village at Bhirethati and then following the Modi river upstream to Syali Bazaar, walk leads to a winding up hills with stone steps and passing the village of Kimche to reach at large hill village of Gandruk the gateway to many Annapurna treks and to Annapurna Sanctuary, here overnight in nice Gurung lodge with views of Annapurna South, Huinchuli and Machhapuchhre “Fish Tail” peak.
Day 04: Trek to Sinewa2,340m– 06 hrs.
With lovely morning and views, starting with a short ascent on the top of Gandruk village with alpine forest, and then on the pleasant path for an hour and climb to the ridge top of Kimrong village with few lodges and then heading downhill through thick forest towards Kimrong river valley, after a nice stop here probably for tea break, and then a steep climb for an hour to a ridge in the forested area with couple of teashops and then on gradual trail with few short ups and down to reach the top of Chomrong village.. It’s a nice spot for Lunch break before heading sinuwa with views of Annapurna South and Huinchuli at close distance. Chomrong is a large Gurung village and the last permanent settlement the other lodge on route Annapurna Sanctuary a temporary area to serve trekkers. After top of chomrong walking down on stone staircase towards a small river and then after the bridge climb for about more than an hour to reach at Sinewa danda 2,340m overnight at guest house.
Day 05: Trek to Deaurali 3200m via Bamboo 2,050m – 06 :30hrs.
On leaving sinewa Journey start walking several ups and down for a while through the forests and gradual ascend on forested ridge then trail descend to Bamboo 2,050m ,surrounding with thick bamboo forest . Bamboo is a nice settlement with 5-6 lodges by the raging Modi river and in the middle of rhododendron and bamboo forest as the name given to this place. From here two hours of slow uphill walk reaches at Dovan .After Dovan gradual climb with short steeps ups and down in between till the walk reach at Himalaya Hotel beneath Annapurna South peak and Hinko large cave, and then a short climb climb about 45min to Deurali 3200m for overnight .
Day 06: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp 3,720m – 06 hrs.
Today to our destination within Annapurna Sanctuary and Base Camp, morning start with
walk leads by the raging river Modi on the uphill walk with few downs and gentle section, after leaving the lush vegetation and tree lines reaching on small plateau at Machhapuchhre base camp 3,720m for tea break, this is the starting and exit point of Annapurna Sanctuary, this nice place with 4-5 lodges beneath the majestic North Face of Fish Tail / Machhapuchhre peak at 6,997 meters high.
After excellent tea break with spectacular snowcapped mountain views trek start with a gradual ascends on the grassy slope and then on a winding gentle trail with sparse vegetation in between towering peaks of Annapurna South, Huinchuli, Tent / Tharpuchuli, looking north the great wall of Annapurna mountain at 8,091 meters tenth world’s highest with Vara Shikar (A Fang) Gangapurna, Glacier Dome and behind rising Mt. Machhapuchhre and Annapurna III.
Annapurna Sanctuary an awesome area encircled by tall mountains, on reaching the sanctuary and then to the overnight lodge at base camp, with free time in the afternoon, lunch with mountain views.
Day 07: Trek back to Bamboo – 06 hrs.
After a most overwhelming and scenic time within Annapurna Sanctuary and Base Camp, morning walk back on the same route to Bamboo place for overnight stop with long downhill and back into forested area in between short steep ascent.
Day 08: Trek to Jhinu danda with hot spring 1,700m – 05 hours.
Morning walk with a short steep climb and then on the gentle slope with downhill and short up to Sinwua danda with 2-3 lodges, from here descend to Chomrong river and then a climb to the village top of Chomrong with lunch here, afternoon heading back to Pokhara via different alternative route at first downhill to Jhinu danda village for overnight with hot spring nearby close to the river Modi of 30 minutes’ walk.
Day 09: Trek to Potana 1,900 m – 05 hrs.
From Jhinu feeling fresh after reaching the destination of this trip to Annapurna base camp and sanctuary, morning walk with long descend to Nayapul ( New Bridge) another small village with same name of few days ago. From here crossing the river and back on the warm rice fields and terraces with pleasant walk for a while and then a short climb to a large Landruk village, after a short rest here a winding nice walk for an hour and then a climb for 45 minutes to Deurali hill with super views of snowcapped mountains including Mt. Dhaulgiri and Annapurna mountain range, after Deurali on the downhill through nice woods to Potana a lovely spot with views of Annapurna and Manaslu, from this village Mt. Machhapuchhre looks magnificent.
Day 10: Trek to Kande 1,460m and drive to Pokhara.
With mountain views for breakfast, starting the last walk of this trip with an hour climb to Australian camp or Thulo Kharka with marvelous scenery of mountain panorama, from here an hour downhill to the road head at Kande village for the drive to Pokhara of an hour scenic journey reaching Pokhara check into fine hotel by the lake Phewa for overnight with afternoon at leisure.

Day 11: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.
From Pokhara a drive back to Kathmandu after 06 hours scenic journey reaching Kathmandu and people who wish to travel by air 30 minutes of panoramic flight to Kathmandu, on reaching Kathmandu transfer to respective hotels.
Day 12: International departure homeward bound.
Last day in Nepal after a wonderful memorable time in the Nepal Himalaya at Annapurna Sanctuary & Base Camp transfer to airport for the flight back home or to respective destination.
